Annual Conference Postponed to May 2021
To safeguard the health and welfare of our attendees, sponsors, and volunteers, ACRL/NEC and NELIG are postponing our May 2020 joint annual conference in response to COVID-19. This decision reflects the Board’s statement urging closure of libraries during the pandemic.
The 2020 Joint Conference was scheduled to take place May 26-27. This conference has been postponed. The Joint Annual Conference will take place on May 24-25, 2021, at the same location (Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, RI). Please mark your calendars!
The conference theme and schedule will stay similar next year, and accepted presenters will be invited to present. The Chapter's 2020 annual business meeting still will be held (virtually) on May 27. A Zoom meeting URL will be distributed to Chapter members in advance.
ACRL/NEC is striving to hold more virtual professional development opportunities. To that end, NELIG will be holding a virtual mini-conference on May 26, 2020 featuring Fobzai Ettarh, presenting a dynamic keynote that will be streamed online. NELIG will also be offering virtual presentations in addition to the keynote that will keep to the conference theme of "Finding the Balance." Stay tuned!
Thanks to the members of the ACRL/NEC and NELIG conference planning committees for their extraordinary efforts. Thanks also to our hosts at the Rhode Island Convention Center, whose flexibility has ensured minimal financial impact on the Chapter.
ACRL/NEC strives to support our members during these challenging and uncertain times. Please contact the President of the Chapter to share any questions or concerns.
Best wishes,
Michael Rodriguez,
President, ACRL New England Chapter
