National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA)
NWSA supports research about women in and out of academia. The Librarians Task Force sponsors programs at NWSA national.
American Association of University Women (AAUW)
AAUW sponsors research about women’s issues, and seeks to improve the status of women in higher education through fellowships and grants; global programs, leadership opportunities, public policy advocacy, and legal support.
American Library Association (ALA) Committee on the Status of Women in Librarianship (COSWL)
COSWL is charged with ensuring that ALA is sensitive to the rights and needs of women in the library profession. Among the issues COSWL is currently investigating are sexual harassment, maternity and paternity policies, and caregiving.
COWSL maintains a presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin.
COSWL’s “Important Women’s Sites” links to blogs focusing on women’s issues; sites pertaining to women/gender issues and public policy; international women’s rights; media representation; professional development and support; professional organizations; women’s studies; youth organizations; and other relevant sites.
